Project Fresh Start
Project Fresh Start was started by the Junior
League of Worcester in 1997 to assist families as they leave Friendly
House - an emergency family shelter, and The
Frances Perkins House - a transitional home for women and
children. Both shelters are located in Worcester. The typical
resident is a single mother with young children who have become
homeless due to domestic violence and/or economic hardship. However,
in recent years, Friendly House has offered emergency shelter
to married couples with children who have suffered economic hardship
and lost their home.

How
You Can Help Project Fresh Start Today |
Project
Fresh Start is a wonderful project for school groups,
church groups, and civic groups who want to show caring
and support for our local society. Community service
helps to build character and teaches responsibility
without looking for recognition in return.

Fresh Start Wish List and start donating today.
Helping Project Fresh Start can
be as simple as a few individuals collecting household
items in one day to having the entire school involved
for one week. The Project Fresh Start committee has
helped organize many school wide drives and they would
be happy to help with flyers, collection and transportation
of the items to our Worcester office.

Project Fresh Start History

Since 1997, the Junior League of Worcester has helped over
200 individuals with the essentials they will need as they transition
to permanent housing. Families receive items such as bedding,
linens, dishes, pans, silverware, cleaning products and additional
household items to help them make their new house a home.
Project Fresh Start is always looking for gently used household
items for our inventory. Financial contributions are also greatly
appreciated.
Business Partnership Opportunities

The JLW seeks partnerships with businesses
specializing in products for the home, especially new pillows,
blankets, sheets, towels and cleaning products. If your business
can help, please contact us.
