| For the past 25 years, PCMS has provided the
Greater Worcester community with the best possible music education.
The school reaches families from 35 different towns
in Central Massachusetts and the City of Worcester,
and fosters a school culture in which both parents and students
can experience the powerful impact the arts can have in changing
and fulfilling individual lives.
With the support of a dedicated faculty of
23 teachers, all with expertise in their specific field
of study or instrument of performance, students develop
musicianship, artistry, and excellence. Our teachers set
high expectations; students learn to think creatively and
discover that hard work gets the job done right.
About 300 students, ranging in age
from birth to retirement, are served weekly through
tuition based programs, which include: Early Childhood/Music
Together® classes, classically oriented private instruction,
chamber ensembles and recitals. PCMS reaches out to the
under-served and under-privileged, through its outreach
grant-based programs, collaborating with numerous local
community organizations. Through such programs and scholarships,
PCMS enriches the lives of those with special needs,
the elderly and those of low-income in our community.
At PCMS, we believe and see first-hand how
music changes lives, connects us to our past, present and
future, and enriches the lives of those in the larger community.
Founded in 1982, PCMS is an independently
incorporated, non-profit institution housed in the Education
Wing of Pakachoag Church in the residential Pakachoag Hill
neighborhood of Auburn. Join us as we celebrate 25 years
of music-making through musical and social events!
Mission:
Pakachoag Community Music School is dedicated to providing
the highest quality music instruction and performance opportunities
to the broadest possible student base, from infants to the
elderly, by creating excitement, joy and high expectation
for intellectual, emotional and creative self-development.
